Putting the AddMerch button in your Tumblelog
You have choices as to how you want the AddMerch button on your page in relation to your images for sale. You can either create in image post and then a separate text post for each image that follows with the button code, or you can create a complete text post with the image as well (as in the example above), its up to you and has no impact on how AddMerch functions. Which ever way you go, the steps are the same:
- Go to your Tumblr Preferences and set your editor to Plain text/HTML. This only needs to be like this whilst you are adding your Button Code post.
- Copy the Button code from the bottom of the AddMerch settings page. The button code looks similar to this: <script type='text/javascript'>
var addmerch_conf = {
image_url: 'Your Image URL Here'
};
AddMerch.generateLink(addmerch_conf);
</script> - Paste the button code into you Text post as plain HTML and insert the URL of your image that you want on your merchandise. You can also use advanced options in the button code.
- Save your post
Be careful to not edit and save the button code posts with Rich Text Editor as it will destroy the javascript.
Advanced Customization
You can completely customize the AddMerch button and the Merch Detail Screen that appears. Follow the Customization Guides here and here to find out how. The example above has a custom button and some minor changes to the Merch Detail display.
